Description: The Water Wagon was pulled by a team of horses or mules with the purpose of gathering water from creeks or ponds and moving it into a steam engine. With a capacity of 10 barrels (or 550 gallons), it certainly could hold a large amount of water. The pump mounted on the top of the tank is used to fill the tank from a stream or pond and then pump the water into the steam engine.
